about

With a heart filled with passion and a head full of stories, Toronto, Canada's Rob Moir continues to deliver his most unique music to date. In the vein of timeless artists like Bruce Springsteen and Jeff Tweedy, Rob's songs are provocative, simple and honest.

After 2 years touring in support of his debut EP This Is The Lie the time came to return home and begin recording the follow up album. Working again with long-time producer Lynne Dubuc out of Toronto & London, Ontario studios: The result is an eclectic full-length record titled: Places To Die. The 10 track effort is a confident and genre-crossing selection of songwriting. An exciting step forward into new territory, both lyrically and sonically for Rob.

Straight in with the lead-off single 'Places To Die (Before You See The world)' the opener stomps and punches above its weight with big choruses. It's upfront lyrical theme protests not wanting to spend his last moments in miserable places such as a prison cell or factory; to an emphasis of not wanting to die in a hospital, which is sung sincerely and direct. Further down the track listing victory is found on the hopeful 'Love Will Cure Us All', balanced by the Elliott Smith-esque track 'The Fear', and the heartbreak travelogue themes captured in the striped down 'Cold'. The album closer 'Crow Stew' is a bluesier barn burner completing a collection of songs intended to be experienced from start to finish.

The result of strong and versatile material found on Places To Die promises to expand Rob Moir's audience as he continues to perform it's songs across the world, making fans the old fashion way, one dedicated believer at a time.
